Checkpoints

  1. Primary checkpoint

Confirm the active quest is For Whom the Bell Tolls — not Tracking the Treasure.

  2. Enter a Hallowgrove expedition. Open the tactical map and check all red boss icons.

  3. Ignore the central Mistlord marker as your quest kill. Look for a secondary boss marker separate from the center.

  4. Identify the Elite Greataxe Berserker by the golden greataxe and golden threads — not a normal greataxe kill for Tracking.

  5. Kill it, re-open the task list, and confirm the kill checkbox actually completed.

  6. Loot the final Bell of Return from the kill path, extract safely, then deliver the bell to Dramm at the Workshop.

Authored schematic — not in-game footage. Central Mistlord is not this quest’s kill; scan secondary red boss markers for the golden Elite.

Location rule (not a fake pin)

Developer guidance (Steam reply): the golden Elite appears as a secondary boss marker on the Hallowgrove map, separate from the central Mistlord. After you enter the expedition:

  1. Open the map.
  2. Scan all red boss icons.
  3. Do not treat the central Mistlord as this quest’s target.
  4. Confirm the golden greataxe / golden threads before committing.

There is no unique fixed coordinate on this page. A north-map success story exists as a single community report only — not a guaranteed spawn rule.

Identify the golden Elite

Quest / community description cues:

  • Golden greataxe
  • Golden threads around the target

Do not invent other look-alike rules, drop rates, or appearance tiers beyond these cues.

Kill did not count (unresolved)

Some players report killing a correct-looking golden Elite and still not getting credit. Possible community guesses include party credit, last hit, or one-spawn limits — none of these are verified.

What you can do safely:

  • Re-read the active quest name.
  • Re-check the kill checkbox.
  • Confirm you are not on Tracking the Treasure.
  • Retry only as a suggestion, not a guaranteed fix.

After the kill

  1. Confirm the quest step.
  2. Secure the final Bell of Return.
  3. Extract (this is still extraction gameplay).
  4. Return the bell to Dramm at the Workshop.
  5. Chain context: Silent Statue → The Weaver → Wandering Chimes → For Whom the Bell Tolls → Full Delivery. Prerequisite: Wandering Chimes.

Database-reported rewards on turn-in: 120 Gold, Soulcomb Net, Bloodstained Brooch — label these as community DB figures if in-game text differs.
